The Seed Is the Identity
The metanomicon-design-canon does not have a logo that is the same every day. It has an ephemeris: the surface derives a seed from the sky over the Royal Observatory (51.4779°N 0.0015°W, UTC) at the moment it is opened, and every generative layer reads that seed. Two people opening the page at the same date see the same field, hash-identical. Opening it a lunation later sees a different one. The identity is the derivation, not any single output.
The mechanism
-
Ephemeris. Meeus Julian day → moon phase, illuminated fraction, lunar mansion, planetary hour. FNV-1a over those values gives the seed; the seed becomes the field's offset (
u_off). -
Publication. The page exposes
window.MN_EPHEMERIS(date, phase, illumination, phase name, seed, planet, mansion, figure, offset), fires amn:ephemerisevent, and exportsMN_derive(date)so any stratum, or a node script with no browser, can derive the same numbers. -
Address.
?date=<ISO>opens the page at that climate; a cite control copies the citation. Reproducibility is shareable, and the review page proves it with two contexts at one date producing one field hash.
The seven strata (v1.2)
| Stratum | Reads | Built by | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tide from the moon | phase → warm/cold season of the field | hand | measured: four phases at one instant; unbound page hash-identical to neutral |
| Mark from the weather | seed → radius band of the phantom mark | hand | measured: 309 lattice cells, reads on every date (30 offsets) |
| Phase disc | any 0..1 quantity drawn as a dithered moon with a real terminator | hand | measured: three instruments, zero grey pixels |
| Address | ?date=, cite control, probe flag | hand | measured: same seed, same output, demonstrated |
| King Wen dither | the received hexagram sequence as Bayer threshold order | squad | measured, half right: raw variance +2.3% only; residual variance 3.5–5× |
| Almanac | a year of the page's own weather at one bit per day | squad | measured: lag-29 autocorrelation 0.907; two colours only at every raster |
| Figure played | the day's figure as 1-bit sound, on gesture only | squad | measured: no audio node before the press, clean close, 8-click hammer clean |
Three more were briefed and not built: text-mode rendering, a sigil engine, a steganographic layer.
What was falsified on the way
- The disagreement palette (warm leads rising, cold trails falling) had never fired: the thresholds were above the noise's whole range. Reset to the 85th and 72nd percentiles of 15,147 measured cells, with tint capped at half saturation because full cold impersonated the essence cyan.
- The phantom mark was described as "resolved from dots, never a shade" and was in fact a DOM glyph at 52% opacity. Rebuilt on a half-pitch interleave of the lattice.
- The observer was documented at 0°N 0°E. The code used the Royal Observatory. The figure-player's builder caught it; the canon was corrected, not the code.
Why it matters beyond this canon
This is the hyperstition move applied to brand: the identity is a process that keeps producing itself, cited by date, checkable by anyone with the script. It also fixes the evidence habit that one-bit-design-doctrine demands, because a seed that can be re-derived turns every visual claim into a reproducible measurement.
