Metanomicon Design Canon (`/.metanomicon`)

The root design system for everything Rudy ships. It sits above every product namespace (HORCRX, zesign, /INIT, Ydefix surfaces) and is inherited, never forked: a namespace overrides five --ns-* tokens and nothing else. It is the design-side counterpart of the metanomicon holding layer.

Status: proposal, not doctrine. It lives on branch proposal/optical-canon of the private chipoto69/metanomicon repo and has never touched main. The holding surface (site/, Plex letterpress, gilt, no sigils) keeps its own law by operator decision 2026-08-07 and is not rebound to this canon.

What it is

One document. DESIGN.md (~900 lines): Part 0 product context and constraint ladder, §0–§16 (doctrine, colour, type, components, space, elevation, motion, iconography, the dither gate, the generative substrate, responsive, guardrails, voice, namespace contract, agent quick reference, accessibility, evidence ledger), then repository and integration appendices.

A token layer. public/tokens.css carries the opacity ladder, --sigil-text, --lunation: 29.530588861d, and the registered namespace blocks.
A verification harness. review.mjs (guardrail audit), contrast-audit.mjs, namespace-check.mjs, and per-stratum evidence.md files with their probe scripts, all run in headless Chromium with software GL.

The doctrine itself is on one-bit-design-doctrine. The mechanism that makes each render date-specific is on seed-is-the-identity.

Lineage

ATLAS → CORPUS → HORCRX → zesign is the brand lineage; the canon inherits the dot lineage from ATLAS, the bracketed-dot mark family (every namespace mark must contain a period), and the ZeSign hero effect from Rudy's own zesign repo. Reference styles fused in: dithered spheres, MacPaint 1-bit chrome, the I Ching hexagram chart, datamosh, pixel-sort. The evidence discipline (every claim carries a status; name what was not established) was lifted from the V2SPACE technical-note corpus as principle only, no assets.

Evidence ledger, summarised

Six statuses: measured, derived, asserted, inherited, falsified, untested. As of v1.2:

Falsified and corrected: the disagreement palette never fired (thresholds reset to p85/p72 of 15,147 cells); the phantom mark was a DOM glyph at 52% opacity, now 309 lattice cells; the ephemeris was documented at 0°N 0°E but computes at the Royal Observatory (51.4779°N 0.0015°W); the namespace contract for any legal namespace (floors added).
Still untested: paper substrate, print, real mobile silicon (now self-correcting rather than asserted), and whether an unfamiliar agent given only the document lands in the brand.
Briefed, not built: text-mode rendering, sigil engine, steganographic layer.

Open threads

Operator decision: promote, dissect, or archive the canon relative to codex law (MEK Sans + MonoMEK) and the holding surface.
Draft PR from proposal/optical-canon (body banked at ~/pr-body.md in the remote session; the session had no GitHub token to open it).
Delete the superseded foundation/metanomicon branch on horcrx.
A metanomicon-design skill, to be created only when the operator says they love the result.
Fold in what the remote session could not reach: metanomicon.org, init.ydefix.build, EnigmaForgeCodex.
